Illinois House Democrats will present their own property tax freeze proposal later today in the General Assembly's Special Session.
The freeze plan will be tackled in the Revenue and Finance Committee. Gov. Bruce Rauner has called for a longer property tax freeze than the two years the Senate agreed to earlier this year.
House Minority Leader Jim Durkin says he will accept a four-year freeze on property taxes in exchange for a four-year, temporary income tax increase.
Democrats say that would create additional hardship on public schools.
