Crop Production Yields Being Outpaced By Cash Rent Costs in Central Illinois

A group of central Illinois farmers expressing concern that crop production yields are being outpaced by the cost of cash rent for farmland. 
 
Logan County farmer Blair Bruns authored a letter to his local paper on the issue and received support from fellow farmer Eli Klokkenga.
 
 
According to the latest data from USDA, cash rent in Logan County averages $289 per acre with the state average at $218. 
 
USDA data also shows Logan County corn yields averaging 207.7 bushels per acre from 2014 through 2016.
