Regional Radio News received reports around 10:24 am that at approximately 6:36 am on Friday, October 12, Clinton Police and emergency medical personnel responded to an address in the 400 block of North Maple Street, Clinton. Reports showed that a 12-year-old female was unresponsive. At 6:55 am, Dewitt County Coroner Randy Rice pronounced the death of Daphne J. Peavler, 12 of Clinton. 

There is an investigation ongoing. Assisting with the investigation is Dewitt County Coroner's Office, Dewitt County Sheriff's Office, and Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services. 

Clinton School District officials were notified and appropriate measures are being taken.
