Novel Energy Solutions Spoke to the DeWitt County Board

The DeWitt County Board had their meeting on Thursday night.

A guest speaker from Novel Energy Solutions spoke before the board about solar energy.

Allie Loschen, a Community Solar Garden Developer for Novel Energy Solutions, talked before the board to let them know what Novel Energy Solutions does.

Novel Energy Solutions is a solar company that originated from Minnesota. It has come down to Illinois to put solar panels in due to Illinois' new solar portfolio back in 2017.

Loschen mentioned that the solar energy acquired would stay in the county for use.

The power would stay in the county or Illinois but would use  Amren. When using the solar energy, Loschen said that 10 percent saved on your bill.

Loschen went to tax advantages for the county saying that they could turn four times more money per acre. Loschen noted that what Novel Energy has looked at and could commit too could result in around 4.9 million dollars in a tax return.

Currently, there is no ordinance for solar energy in DeWitt County.  Other counties have the permits to get the gardens but not DeWitt County. If they would want the gardens, they must have the ordinance or permits to put in the solar gardens. A lottery is being held by Noval Energy Solutions on January 15th through the 30th for the community solar gardens.
