National Guard to Battle Election Hackers

The state will be turning to the National Guard on Election Day if needed. The Board of Elections says that after Russian hackers attacked statewide voter databases in 2016 they will be ready this year. ISBE has asked a special unit from the National Guard to be on standby. Adjutant General Richard Hayes they are trained and up to the task.

 

 

The state board wants all local election authorities to get on board with a new cyber navigator program. It helps make risk assessments of networks and find vulnerable areas.
