Tuesday Through Thursday Cold Could Be Record Setter

The prolonged cold we're experiencing could be a record setter.

That's according to the National Weather Service in Lincoln. Curt Huttle indicates there are some records to be broken based off the forecasts for Tuesday night, Wednesday and Thursday.

The extended nature of the Wind Chill Warning that goes into effect at 6 pm Tuesday night and the expiration of Thursday at noon is also unusual. Huttle says they typically only last through a short period of time, generally overnights.

Huttle indicates cold air is coming in from the north and it is causing a longer-than-normal cold spell. He indicates the polar vortex is making it's way farther south than normal and that is bringing in this unusually cold air.
