With May upon us, the outdoor activities are kicking into high gear and an Illinois landmark is hoping to take advantage of the increased hustle and bustle.
Communities along the northern and southern Illinois corridor of Route 66 will be participating in all-day events to highlight the landmark and invite people into their towns. Geoff Ladd with the Route 66 Scenic Byway Association told Regional Radio New on the WHOW Morning Show Tuesday things start Saturday with the northern corridor of the historic road....
Two weeks following this weekend's event that highlights the northern corridor of Route 66, Ladd explains the southern corridor gets highlighted.
Friday night will be a special event that will unveil the location of a rock and roll museum coming to Illinois in Joliet.
Ladd hopes a lot of folks make a day of the Route 66 events and this weekend particularly, he encourages everyone to make stops starting in Towanda and make your way up to Joliet and perhaps stay the night and make a weekend of the tour.
