IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN, TURN BACK YOUR CLOCK AND CHECK YOUR FIRE ALARMS THIS WEEKEND.

THE STATE FIRE MARSHAL'S OFFICE RECOMMENDS CHECKING SMOKE DETECTORS ONCE A MONTH, BUT DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME IS A GOOD REMINDER TO GET IT DONE SAYS SPOKESPERSON J-C FULTZ.

WHILE YOU CHANGE ALL OF YOUR CLOCKS FOR DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME...THE STATE FIRE MARSHAL'S OFFICE ASKS THE PUBLIC TO HIT THE TEST BUTTON ON THEIR SMOKE DETECTORS AND REPLACE BATTERIES AS NEEDED SAYS FULTZ.

FULTZ SAYS LAST YEAR, 91 PEOPLE DIED IN HOME FIRES IN ILLINOIS. IN MOST CASES, THE HOME DID NOT HAVE A WORKING SMOKE ALARM.
