Clinton Police Chief Says City After Compliance With Brush Ordinance

As the brush pick-up season looks to the fall leaf cleanup period, a Clinton law enforcement official is reminding residents of the ordinances around the brush pick regulations in Clinton.

Police Chief Ben Lowers indicates the brush pick-up ordinance has been on the books for a few years now and public works crews continue to encounter brush piles larger than the City code allows.

According to Chief Lowers, the Police Department has a code enforcement officer that is diligent in monitoring the streets for brush piles as a part of his duties. The City ultimately does not want to be issuing citations, they simply want compliance.

Chief Lowers indicates the ordinance was put in place to scale back on how much time was being dedicated to brush pick on a monthly basis, especially in the summertime when there are a lot of projects that need to be done.

He points anyone with questions to contact the Police Department and ask for the code enforcement officer or to find the ordinance in written form at the City of Clinton website, clintonillinois.com.
