A group of Clinton residents spent the last six months planning for a community-wide Fourth of July celebration, and this weekend, it was received extremely well by attendees.
On the WHOW Morning Show Wednesday, Clinton City Administrator Tony Harris applauded the tireless efforts of the many who stepped up to make the event a success.
At the Tuesday night Clinton City Council meeting, Commissioner John Wise gave a shoutout to the volunteers and the efforts they made to make the event a success. He indicates there were some things out of the control of the committee like pop up weather and other factors.
Mayor Helen Michalassi also chimed in, noting the community collaboration it took to make the event happen, from the volunteers to City workers and police all working together. She was very pleased with how the event went.
Harris told the Hart Media Group, the downtown area should continue to be a hub of activity the remainder of the summer as they continue to work on scheduling bands to perform on the Mr Lincoln Square stage. He says as those get scheduled, they will post to the City's Facebook page.
