Warm Weather Expected to Stick Around

The dog days of summer are officially upon us as we battle more heat in central Illinois this week.

On the WHOW Morning Show on Monday, Ed Shimon at the National Weather Service in Lincoln indicates highs will persist around 90 degrees with overnight lows not cooling down very much.

With the summer growing season in full effect, the humidity is spiked thanks to the corn fields. Shimon says a dome of heat is setting up over the Midwest for the next few weeks, with minimal chances of rain until the weekend.

Later this week, we could see some heat advisories being issued by the Weather Service. We'll have more on the various advisories and what they mean for the public later this week on Regional Radio.
