A DeWitt County non-profit is preparing for expansion again, this time in eastern Illinois.
On the WHOW Morning Show Tuesday, Neighborhood Care Center Director Cody Monkman told the Hart Media Group the Clinton-based non-profit was approached earlier this year by residents in Vermilion County about what they needed to begin a network branch based in Danville.
While many may see the Neighborhood Care Center, currently operating in Clinton and Heyworth, and wonder about expansion into a bigger area like Danville, Monkman believes it is less about the area of operation and more about utilizing the gifts of those in the community to become the best they can.
According to Monkman, the space the Neighborhood Care Center in Vermillion County will eventually operate out of will be smaller than the space they occupy in Clinton. He notes, though, it is less about the size of the space, but rather the size of the impact.
While the focus is small, Monkman admits the Network is in the midst of growing pains and is starting to expand its leadership roles because of all its growth in the last five years.
The Neighborhood Care Center's location in Vermillion County plans to be up and operating in the first part of 2027. Monkman indicates they will likely host a fundraiser in Vermillion County in the first quarter of 2027 as well.
