Illinois has confirmed that defensive end Gimel President is transferring from Auburn to Illinois.

Coach Bill Cubit said Tuesday the 6-4, 265-pound graduate transfer will be eligible to play this fall.

President played in 25 games over the past three seasons for Auburn including 10 starts. He played in 10 games last season and had 12 tackles and two sacks.

Cubit called President "a terrific addition to our defensive line" who should add maturity and make "an immediate impact."

President sat out the 2012 season as a redshirt. He is from Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.
