Bradley, Duke, Powell Atop the Valspar Leader Board; Spieth Starts Slow

Keegan Bradley, Ken Duke and Charles Howell III shot four-under  67s Thursday in the first round of the Valspar Championship from Palm Harbor, Florida.

Jordan Spieth struggled mightily in the first round of his first title defense on the PGA Tour this season at the Valspar Championship. Spieth went out in 39 and didn't come home much better for a 5-over total of 76 at Innisbrook.

The world's No. 1 player made six bogeys and sits at T117 after 18 holes of play.

Spieth was actually pretty average with his putter but totally lost from tee to green. He hit only six greens in regulation and lost over two strokes with his driver and irons.

Martin Kaymer is one-under par after 18 holes, tied for ninth.

Henrik Stenson, Charl Schwartzel, Patrick Reed, Bill Haas, Daniel Summerhays, Matt Kuchar and Steve Stricker were among a group that shot even par-71 Thursday to tie for 26th.
