Mahomet-Seymour Defeats Clinton in Six Innings

A four run fifth inning by Mahomet-Seymour broke open a 4-0 game on a windy Tuesday afternoon at Clinton High School as the Bulldogs of Mahomet-Seymour cruised past Clinton 11-0 in six innings in non-conference baseball action.

An inning later, a two-run home run by Scott Metzger put Mahomet-Seymour up ten and the Bulldogs would tack on another run.

After a shaky start where Maroons starter Christian Hunt allowed three runs in the first inning, he settled down to eight of the next nine hitters.

Hunt finished his afternoon going 5.1 innings, yielding eight runs, four earned with a pair strikeouts and allowing two walks.

Levi Nettles finished the game, going 1.2 innings, allowing three runs on three hits with a pair of strikeouts and allowing a walk.

Offensively, Tanner White, Trenton Fryman, and Colton Smith had hits. Fryman also drew a walk.

Bradley Hamilton went the distance on the hill for the Bulldogs, allowing three hits with a walk and totaling eight strikeouts in six shutout innings.

The Maroons drop to 1-2 on the season.
