According to ESPN.com, prosecutors in Maui will move to dismiss domestic abuse charges against Rockies shortstop Jose Reyes because Reyes' wife, the alleged victim of the assault, has declined to cooperate with the investigation.

Katherine Reyes originally told police that an argument in the couple's hotel room at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea turned violent on Halloween night of last year and that she sustained injuries to her thigh, neck, and wrist. Jose Reyes was arrested and released after posting $1,000 bail. He later pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In late February, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred placed Reyes on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of judicial proceedings and the league's own investigation. Even though Reyes will now presumably not face trial, he remains subject to discipline by MLB and Manfred under Major League Baseball's Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy. In early March, MLB suspended Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman for 30 games under the same policy.
