Maroons Drop Tough One To Sullivan

Two runs in the top of the 6th inning proved to be the difference at the Sullivan Redskins beat the Clinton Maroons, 6-5 in a back and forth Central Illinois Conference boys baseball game from Monday afternoon at Clinton High School.

Leading 5-4 to start the frame, Mac Hickman who was terrific on the mound, issued a lead off single to start the inning, later walking the lead run and both runners would score after a pair of errors in the inning.

Despite a great performance on the mound, six Maroon errors were detrimental in Hickman's performance. Of the six runs to cross the plate for Sullivan, just one was earned as Hickman went the distance striking out ten, walking three and allowing four hits.

At the dish, Hickman went 2-for-4.

Christian Hunt delivered a 2-run single in the bottom of the fifth inning that put the Maroons in front for the first time on the day. Hunt finished 1-for-4.

Wesley Conn was also 2-for-3 and Travis Osgood and Dillon Walsh each recorded run scoring hits.

The Maroons drop to 3-11 overall and are 0-6 in CIC play. The Redskins move to 11-6 on the year and are 4-2 in conference action.
