Monticello Wins Marathon With St. Thomas More

Garrett Myers sac-fly in the bottom of the 11th inning Tuesday afternoon sent the Monticello Sages home with a walk-off, 1-0 victory over Champaign St. Thomas More in boys Okaw Valley Conference baseball action.

The Sages mustered just three hits on the afternoon and committed four errors but were able to keep the Sabres off the board in the marathon.

 

Tyler Jones got the start on the mound and went seven shutout innings, allwing four hits, walked two, and struck out 14.

 

Cam Wittig picked up the win with four scoreless innings of relief. He allowed three hits, two walks and struck out seven.

 

The Sages are 12-5 overall.

 

They will head to Champaign Thursday to take on St. Thomas More in the return game of the confernece home-and-home set up.
