Maroons Pick Up Conference Win On Senior Night

The Clinton Maroons used a one hit shutout performance to pick up their first conference win on Senior Night, 8-0, against the Meridian Hawks. 

 

In a game heard Tuesday afternoon on WHOW, Clinton's Mac Hickman led the Maroons efforts by throwing a complete game one hit shutout.  The sophomore righty went all seven innings only allowing one hit, striking out 9, and walking 5. Hickman picked up his second win of the season with the effort.

Several Maroons had a good day at the plate. They were led by Senior Nolan Hickman, who was named the Stephan York Country Financial Player Of The Game. He was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI.  Senior Christian Hunt was 1 for 2 with 2 RBI. Senior Dillan Walsh was 1 for 2 with a double. 

 

Senior Hayden Damery took the loss for the Hawks. He went 5 1/3 innings giving up 7 runs on 8 hits while walking four and striking out five. 

 

The Maroons improve to 4-18 with the win, and 1-11 in the Central Illinois Conference. Meridian falls to 7-14 on the year, and 3-6 in the CIC. 

 

Tune into WHOW next Tuesday for our next Maroons Game of the week as Clinton hosts Maroa-Forsyth in varsity baseball action. The Clinton Lady Maroons host St. Joe-Ogden next Thursday on WHOW as well.
