The Blue Ridge Knights scored five insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning Friday afternoon as they took down Fieldcrest 10-7 in Heart of Illinois boys baseball action.

The Knights were led by Cory Jayne who went 3-for-5 with five RBIs and two runs scored.

Thomas Hardesty, Isaac Trotter, Calvin Florey and Dylan Lytel added RBIs for the Knights, who finish their regular season schedule 20-9 overall and 13-1 in Heart of Illinois action.

Ben Williamson drew three walks for Blue Ridge and was dominant on the mound as well, allowing three unearned runs on four hits, issuing two walks and striking out 11.

The Knights will play this week in the Heart of Illinois tournament before opening up regional play next week. Announced Friday by the IHSA, the Knights are the second seed in the Illinois Wesleyan Sectional and will play at the Roanoke-Benson Regional, starting next Wednesday.
