Sages Fall Short to Mattoon

The Monticello Sages scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning, but a rally against Mattoon fell short as the Sages dropped a non-conference boys baseball game, 4-3, Tuesday afternoon from Monticello High School.

Logan Hislope paced the Sages offense finishing 2-for-3 with a pair of runs, a double and a walk.

Luke Stokowski and Konner Bundy each drove in a run and Austin Wiggins scored the other Sages run.

Garrett Myers got the start for Monticello, going all seven innings, allowing four runs, three earned, eight hits and issued three walks with two strikeouts.

The Sages are 14-10 overall and will play a non-conference game today against Clinton.
