Big Sixth Inning Propels Maroa-Forsyth Past Shelbyville

Sophomore Will Horve was terrific over six plus innings and a seven-run sixth inning propeled the Maroa-Forsyth Trojans past Shelbyville 10-2 in Regional semifinal action Thursday afternoon from Warrensburg-Latham High School.

Entering the seventh inning, Horve had shut down Shelbyville, however, he would only record one out before leaving runners at first and second on consecutive walks and two relievers combined to finish off the Rams and wrap up a 10-2 win.

 

The two base runners Horve allowed in the seventh would come around and score, making his final line 6 1/3 innings, with two runs allowed on 3 hits with 3 walks and five strikeouts.

 

Braden Willoughby reached base three times with a single, double and a walk and also drove in a run for the Trojans, who are now 16-11.

 

Clayton Sprague was a home run shy of the cycle.

 

Logan Alsup finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and Jared Wisler, Peyton Morr, Colton Cavanaugh and Cooper Hitchens all recored RBIs for Maroa-Forsyth, as they move on to a Regional final Saturday morning at Warrensburg-Latham High School at 11 am.

 

Tyler Gottfried finished 1-for-2 with two walks for the Rams, who finishe their season 22-8.
