Maroons Fall To Cardinals; Miss Playoffs

In a game heard Friday night on WHOW, the Clinton Maroons fell to the Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals on Homecoming, 42 to 6.

 

The loss drops Clinton to 3-5 on the season, and removes them from playoff contention.  Warrensburg-Latham becomes eligible for the postseason with a 5-3 record.

 

Clinton was led by Senior running back, Alec Cooley.  He carried the ball 23 times for 189 yards. Cooley was named the Stephan York Country Financial Maroons Player of the Game.

 

Clinton Senior quarterback Noah Griffin was 2 of 13 passing for 22 yards. He ran the ball 10 times for 20 yards.  

 

The Maroons were shut down in the second half.  The Cardinals defense only allowed Clinton 23 total yards in the final two quarters.

 

Warrensburg-Latham was led by the Lewis twins.  Donte Lewis ran the ball 17 times for 267 yards and 3 TDs.  He was 5 of 10 passing for 86 yards, and 2 TDs.  Deondre Lewis carried the ball 17 times for 155 yards and a touchdown.  He also caught a 45 yard touchdown pass.

 

Clinton falls to 2-4 in the CIC.  The Cards even their conference record to 3-3.
