Sages Rally Past Maroons

In a game heard on WHOW, WEZC and at dewittdailynews.com, the Monticello Sages overcame a seven point halftime deficit to rally past the Clinton Maroons 67-57 Tuesday night in non-conference boys basketball action from Clinton High School.

Austin Rauch scored 16 of 20 points in the first half to carry Clinton to a 38-31 lead, but the Sages switched to a full-court zone defense and Clinton could not find any offensive rhythm, attempting just eight third quarter field goals.

Calvin Fisher led all scorers with 24 points and Luke Stokowski added 19 points and eight rebounds for the Sages. Johnny Dawson added ten points for Monticello, who improves to 9-3 on the season.

Rauch’s 20 points were a game high for the Maroons. Peyton McCubbin added 13 points and pulled down eight rebounds.

The Maroons drop to 6-6 on the season and take on Central A&M Friday night.

The Sages host Tolono Unity Friday night. Hear the game on 95.9 FM WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com.
