Villanova Back to No. 1 in AP Poll; Kansas No. 1in Coaches Poll

For the first time in program history, Baylor earned a No. 1 ranking in the AP poll a week ago. With a spotless record and wins over Louisville, Michigan State, and Oregon, to name a few, the Bears had arguably the most impressive resume in the country. In fact, a case could be made they still do.
But Scott Drew's team was knocked off its perch quickly. A road trip to Morgantown ensued hours after being named No. 1 and the 15-game winning streak Baylor carried to open the season was history after West Virginia throttled the Bears en route to a 21-point loss.

Now it's another familiar face who reclaims its spot at the top in Villanova.

The latest edition of the USA Today Coaches Poll was released Monday afternoon, and we've got a few surprises.
Kansas is the new No. 1, which was anticipated after Baylor's loss to West Virginia last week. But the Bears did rebound with a road win against K-State. Nevertheless, BU goes from first to sixth this week. That means everyone else bumps up. But Gonzaga's undefeated record isn't impressive enough to get coaches to put the Bulldogs first, or even top-three.

Another somewhat surprising result: Xavier dropped two road games to Nova and Butler, yet maintains a top-20 ranking. The Musketeers can validate that ranking with a home win over Creighton on Monday afternoon.

Duke took the biggest tumble this week, slipping 11 spots after losing at Florida State and at Louisville.
