Sages Hold On For Win Over Meridian

In a game heard on 95.9 FM WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com, the Monticello Sages held on for a non-conference victory over Meridian, 77-67 Saturday night in boys basketball action from Monticello.

The Sages held a 19-point advantage at 60-41 with 3:32 to play in the third, but the Hawks trimmed the deficit to 64-57 with 6:32 in the game, but the Sages held on to improve to 11-3 overall.

 

Calvin Fisher led Monticello with 25 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and three steals. Luke Stokowski finished with 19 points, seven rebounds, four assists, four blocks and three steals.

 

Isiah Florey was solid once again with 17 points and eight rebounds.

 

Johnny Dawson finished with seven points, five rebounds and four assists.

 

The Sages dominated the glass with a 36-18 advantage while outscoring Meridian 50-12 in the paint.

 

The Hawks were led by Layne Kercher’s 25 points. Garrett Meisenhelter scored 16 points and Cameron Getz chipped in with 15.

 

The Hawks drop to 9-10 on the season.
