Unity Drops Clinton

A second half rally for the Clinton Maroons fell short Tuesday night as the Unity Rockets held on for a 58-50 win in non-conference boys basketball action.

Trailing 31-12 at the half, the Maroons outscored the Rockets 38-27, but the deficit was too much to overcome.

Peyton McCubbin led Clinton with 17 points and Austin Rauch chipped in with 12 points.

JT Wheeler led Unity with 28 points, the only Rocket to score in double-figures.

The Rockets improve to 8-9 overall while Clinton drops to 6-10.

The Maroons open Central Illinois Conference tournament action Saturday night when they take on Warrensburg-Latham at Sullivan High School. Hear all the action starting at 6 pm on 92.3 FM WHOW and online at dewittdailynews.com.
