Rachael Lockmiller scored 20 of her game high 24 points in the second half the Monticello Lady Sages clamped down defensively on the Unity Lady Rockets to win their fourth straight Regional title 55-15 Thursday night at Argenta-Oreana High School.
Lockmiller called it a total team effort and felt their defense worked very well together.
The Lady Sages held the Lady Rockets without a field goal for over 23 minutes and without a point for 18 minutes.
The Lady Rockets scored on a free throw with no time on the clock at the end of the first quarter, making the score 12-11 and didn’t score again until the 6:10 mark of the fourth quarter and then got a field goal for the first time since the final 1:30 of the first quarter with 55 seconds left in the game.
Unity did not score in the second or third quarters and outscored the Lady Rockets 43-4 in the final three quarters. 
Head Coach Dave Beery says he was extremely impressed with his team's defense.
Zanna Myers scored 12 points for the Lady Sages and Tatum McCall added eight points. Myers says she just tooke what the defense gave her tonight and got some shots to fall.


The Lady Sages will take on Fithian Oakwood Tuesday night from the Champaign St. Thomas More sectional at 7:30 pm.
