Tuscola Blanks Clinton

Andrew Erickson threw six shutout innings and Noah Pierce hit a two-run home run in a three-run second inning sending the Tuscola Warriors to a shutout of the Clinton Maroons 6-0 in Central Illinois Conference boys baseball action Thursday afternoon from Tuscola High School.
 
Erickson held the Maroons to six hits, walking one and struck out six. 
 
Cole Thomas closed the door in the seventh with an inning of scoreless relief.
 
The Warriors led 3-0 after after two innings. They would tack a run on in the third and two more in the fifth. 
 
Maroons starter Mac Hickman allowed six runs, though only two were earned runs as Clinton committed three errors in the game. Hickman struck out six and walked four in his five innings. Wesley Conn threw an inning of scoreless relief.
 
Hickman accounted for two of the Maroons three hits and Conn had the other hit. 
 
Haden Cothron finished 2-for-2 for Tuscola Thursday.
 
The Warriors improve to 7-6 overall and the Maroons drop to 4-3 and 1-2 in CIC play.
