Maroa-Forsyth Beats Monticello

Will Horvey threw six-plus innings of two-run ball and the Maroa-Forsyth Trojans topped Monticello 6-2 in Tuesday afternoon non-conference boys baseball action from Forsyth Village Park.

 

Maroa-Forsyth scored two runs in the second, fourth and sixth innings and got out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the seventh inning to end the game.

 

After tossing five shutout innings, Horvey allowed two runs in the sixthe inning, then allowed a leadoff single to start the sventh, but Kameron Boline got the final three outs after loading the bases with one out.

 

Horvey finished with four strikeouts and issued five walks.

 

Mitch Carr took the loss for the Sages. Finishing with four runs, three earned, allowing five hits, five walks and struck out four.

 

Braden Willoughby led the Trojans with a 3-for-3 afternoon with three RBI. Logan Shepard had an RBI and Dawson Roberts scored twice finishing 2-for-3.

 

Luke Stokowski, who left the game in the sixth inning after a nasty collision at first base on an infield single, finished 2-for-3 with an RBI.

 

Nate Graham went 1-for-4 with a run scored.


The Sages drop to 11-4 on the season while Maroa-Forsyth improves to 10-1.
