Sages Outlast Unity in IHSA Regional Action

Mitch Carr pitched into the sixth inning after being handed a 12-0 lead after two innings and the Monticello Sages advanced in Class 2A boys baseball regional action with a 12-7 over Tolono Unity Wednesday from Champaign St. Thomas More.
Carr struck out nine over 5 1/3 innings and allowed five runs. Jeffery Wileaver and Nick Hopper finished off the victory for the Sages.
 
Carr also finished 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Alek Bundy and Alex Marquardt each walked twice.
 
The Sages advance to a Regional final Saturday afternoon in a matchup with Okaw Valley rival St. Joe-Ogden, who defeated Champaign St. Thomas More 14-7 Wednesday.
