As heard on 95.9 FM WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com, Zanna Myers scored a game high 23 points to lead three Lady Sages scorers in double-figures as Monticello opened their 2017-18 season with a 61-24 win over LeRoy Tuesday night at LeRoy high school.
Myers nine of her 23 in the second quarter helping the Lady Sages open up a 30-13 halftime advantage after they outscored the Lady Panthers 16-5 in the second.
Emily Edmondson chipped in with 14 points and Tatum McCall added 12 for Monticello.
The Lady Sages are coming of a 22 win season and a Sweet 16 appearance in the postseason last year.
The Lady Panthers were led by Carly Warlow with seven points.
LeRoy, who is looking to improve on an 8-19 season last year, opens 0-1 for the season.
The Lady Sages play on the road Thursday against Meridian then on the road again next Tuesday at Casey-Westfield.
They will open their home schedule the Thursday following Thanksgiving, November 30, against Mt. Pulaski at 7:30 pm. That will be the next WEZC broadcast of Monticello girls basketball action. You can hear it on 95.9 FM and online at dewittdailynews.com.
