The Monticello Lady Sages held off a frantic comeback by the Tuscola Lady Warriors for a 54-42 victory Thursday night from the Monticello Holiday Hoopla tournament in girls basketball action.


Leading 45-25 after three quarters, the Lady Warriors outscored the Lady Sages 17-9 but their comeback fell short and Monticello finished day one of Holiday Hoopla play 2-0.


The Lady Sages were led by Tatum McCall, who finished with 22 points. Zanna Myers added 16.


Marissa Russo was the only Tuscola player to score in double figures. Alexis Koester added eight points, Natalie Bates and Grace Dietrich added six points.


The Lady Sages will take on Ridgeview tomorrow afternoon for a chance to play for the Holiday Hoopla championship. Game time is 2 pm. Hear all the action on 95.9 FM WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com.
