Heyworth Names New Football Coach

Heyworth High School has named their next football coach. 
 
At the Heyworth Community Unit School District’s Board of Education meeting on January 16th, Derek Logue, a Normal Community High School graduate was unanimously approved as the new Head Football Coach and Driver Education Teacher for next school year. 
 
Logue was a member of the 2006 State Championship football team his junior year of high school and attended Eastern Illinois University for undergraduate school. He has been coaching and teaching at Effingham High School for the last four years and has been the defensive coordinator for the past three years. 
 
While student teaching, he coached football at Mattoon High School for one year. Prior to coaching at Mattoon, he was the varsity special teams coordinator and defensive line coach at Arcola High School. His first high school coaching experience was with his alma mater, Normal Community High School, as a freshman coach for one year.
 
He and his wife Megan have one son Lucas, 2 years old, and another son due any day. 
 
Heyworth High School will be hosting a Meet and Greet for Coach Logue at the high school in the near future.
