Monticello Dominates Pontiac

The Monticello Sages came out swinging and never let up as they routed Pontiac, 52-30 in Illini Prairie Conference boys basketball action Friday night at Monticello High School.

 

The Sages opened the game up on a 9-2 run and led 19-5 after the first quarter. They led 29-13 at the half and 44-17 at the end of the third.

 

Calvin Fisher paced a balanced Sages offensive attack with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Luke Stokowski added seven points, Johnny Dawson had six points and Ben Singleton added four points.

 

The Sages forced the Indians into 18 turnovers and only allowed two assists on 12 field goals.

 

They turned those 18 turnovers into 25 points and scored 28 points in the paint.

 

Monticello also dominated the glass, 38-25.

 

Pontiac drops to 7-9 overall, suffering their first Illini Prairie Conference loss to move to 2-1.

 

The Sages won their seventh in a row and are 14-1 overall and 3-0 in conference action.
