The Monticello Sages jumped out to a 19-2 advantage early in the first half and rolled past Tolono Unity 54-23 and clinched the first-ever Illini Prairie Conference championship in boys basketball action Tuesday night at Unity High School.

Calvin Fisher led all scorers with 13 points and five rebounds. Johnny Dawson scored ten of his 12 points in the first.

The Rockets got only 22 field goals off. The Sages forced 18 Unity turnovers and turned them into 24 points.

The Sages move to 21-1 overall and are 8-0 in conference action.

The Rockets are 14-6 and 3-5 overall.
