Monticello Gets By Maroa-Forsyth

Alek Bundy’s bases-clearing double to cap a five-run second inning proved to be the difference as Monticello downed Maroa-Forsyth 7-3 in non-conference boys baseball action Monday afternoon from Monticello High School.

Owen Trybom, Cam Wittig, and Brett Macak started the inning by reaching base. Trybom scored on Macak’s single and Asher Bradd walked to load the bases and Bundy cleared them by floating a fly ball into right-center field for the final scoring of the afternoon for Monticello.

Bundy would finish the afternoon reaching base four times, including two times being hit by a pitch. He scored two runs and stole two bases.

Mitch Carr drove in two runs in the first inning with a double. He finished 2-for-4.

Wittig got the win on the mount working in and out of trouble over five innings, allowing one earned run with four strikeouts and issued two walks.

Andrew Rudolph allowed a run in the sixth and Luke Stokowski closed the door in the seventh with a clean inning.

The Trojans were led by Drew Hicks’ 2-for-4 afternoon. He scored a run, drove in a run and stole a base.

Logan Shephard and Aaron Agee each had an RBI and Tanner Falk walked twice.

The Sages improve to 15-1 overall and Maroa-Forsyth drops to 7-5.
