Clinton Drops Two At Saturday Round Robin

The Clinton Maroons dropped a pair of games at their annual Clinton Round Robin Tournament Saturday.
 
Bloomington Central Catholic blanked the Maroons 8-0. The Maroons scattered just four hits. Logan Peterson, Garrett Wayne and Michael Oswald all logged base hits. 
 
Peterson lasted just one innings on the mound, allowing five runs on five hits, issuing a walk and logged zero strike outs. 
 
Michael Oswald allowed two runs, one earned, in two innings. Rustin Wertz allowed a run in 1 2/3 innings. Braden Cross threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings.
 
Ethan Carr threw six shutout innings for the Saints. He allowed four hits and struck out eight, with zero walks.
 
In the afternoon game for Clinton, a late comeback fell short, as Salt Fork held off the Maroons 8-6.
 
The Maroons trailed 8-1 after five and-a-half innings and rallied with four runs in the bottom of the sixth and added a run in the seventh, but could not finish things off.
 
Keaton Thayer threw 3 1/3 innings of one-run relief. He allowed four hits and struck out one with zero walks.
 
Cross blasted a solo home run in the seventh inning to draw Clinton with 8-6. Jake Wade drove in three runs, finishing 2-for-4 with a double.
 
The Maroons are 4-5 overall after the 0-2 weekend and a 9-2 win Friday for Central A&M. Wade came up and out short of the complete game win on the mound. He allowed two runs, one earned, with ten strikeouts to one walk and three hits. 
 
Logan Peterson drove in three Friday and West drove in two. 
 
The Maroons are 4-1 in the Central Illinois Conference.
