Monticello Defeats IVC 52-7

Monticello came out playing like an All-State team as they would crush the Illinois Valley Central Gray Ghosts in Friday nights game. Monticello would go on a defensive strike holding the Gray Ghosts to just 7 points. The Sages would go on to score 52 points.

In the 1st quarter, Monticello came ready to play as IVC would throw two early interceptions. IVC's Alex Merlo would throw straight to the Sage's, Cole Reedy and Alex Bundy. Alex Bundy running his all the way back for a pick-six putting the first points up for The Sages. Then on the second score would be from the Sages offense as quarterback Braden Snyder would find Chris Brown putting the Sages up an early 14 points in the first quarter. About mid-way through the first quarter, Branden Burton would be injured with a broken leg.

As the 1st quarter went on IVC would continue to struggle and not find the end zone. Monticello's quarterback Synder would be spot on as he would continue to find Chris Brown, Asher Bradd, and Devin Graham in the end zone putting the Sages up 35 to 0 finally ending the first quarter.

In the 2nd quarter, Monticello would look to slow it down. Coach Welter would have Luke Rudolph attempt a 35-yard field goal on the far right hash mark. Rudolph had enough power as he would put it right through the goal posts, plus 20 yards. Monticello would continue to add points throughout the quarter. IVC would get close to scoring from the 2-yard line, but Monticello played strong and stopped IVC making them turn the ball over. Bradd would then get a handoff to the left running for 98 yards scoring another touchdown for the Sages bringing the score to 45 points.

The Sages would look to find another touchdown off a loose ball from IVC. Sages would drive down the field putting another touchdown up and running out the 2nd quarter making the score 52 to 0.

In the 2nd half would be slow as Coach Welter would swap out starters and backups slowing down the team. The clock would continue to run the rest of the game.

Late in the 4th quarter, IVC would find the end zone on a jet sweep left from Kesean Hobson putting the score 52 to 7.

The clock would run out ending the game, making the final score 52 to 7 in favor of the Sages.
