Monticello Tops Olympia

The Monticello Lady Sages youth stepped up as they defeated Olympia 43-35 in Illini Prairie Conference girls basketball action from Monticello Thursday night.

 

Lizzie Stiverson and Rennie Fultz were instrumental in the Lady Sages winning their second straight conference game.

 

Stiverson was active on defense and scored nine points, shooting 7-for-9 free throws.

 

Fultz defense was good as well and she finished with 12 points on 4-for-6 free throws.

 

Cloe Clark led all scorers with 13 points for Monticello.

 

Colby Burt led the Lady Spartans with nine points.

 

Olympia drops to 17-12 overall and 4-5 in conference.

 

The Lady Sages improve to 8-16 overall and are 3-6 in the Illini Prairie.

 

Monticello plays IVC tomorrow night in a rare Friday night game to wrap up their regular season. They will head to Regionals next Monday night at Tolono Unity where they will play a quarter-final game against Champaign St. Thomas More at 6 pm.
