Sages Kennel Bulldogs

Monticello held Decatur St. Teresa without a field goal in the first half and rolled to a 51-32 win in an old Okaw Valley Conference rivalry game Saturday night in Decatur.

While the Sages held a 21-4 lead at the break, it could have been a lot wider of a margin as the Sages shot only 37.5-percent from the floor, missing on a lot of in close opportunities while St. T struggled offensively.

The Bulldogs shot 4-for-6 from the line in the first half to keep them from getting shutout.

The Sages rebounded from a 69-52 loss last night at Bloomington Central Catholic.

A largely good game distracted from a run in the third quarter that saw St. T get back within 13 points, 35-22 with 1:15 to play in the third, but Monticello dominated from there outscoring the Bulldogs the rest of the way, 16-10.

Ben Singleton overcame a slow start to lead the way for Monticello with 15 points and ten rebounds. David Alexander finished with 12 points.

Devin Graham added seven points, five rebounds and dished out five assists while committing no turnovers.

The Bulldogs drop to 9-14 overall and Monticello improves to 18-7.

The Sages wrap up the regular season next week when they host Tolony Unity Tuesday night and wrap up the regular season at home on Friday against Olympia.
