Maroons Roll Meridian Hawks

After falling behind 5-2 early, the Clinton Maroons rallied to score the games final seven runs and beat Meridian 9-5 at Meridian High School Tuesday afternoon in Central Illinois Conference boys baseball action.

Logan Peterson and Braden Cross each doubled twice in the offensive rally, Rustin Wertz doubled and drove in four. Drew Stacey and Michael Oswald each hit had a pair of hits for the Maroons as well.

 

Parker West started for the Maroons and picked up the win, firing three innings, allowing five runs, four were earned, on five hits, issuing three walks and striking out four. Garrett Wayne finished the final four innings, allowing two unearned runs on two hits, three walks and seven strikeouts.

 

The Maroons improve to 5-4 overall and 3-2 in the CIC while Meridian falls back to 3-7 overall and 2-4 in the CIC.

 

Clinton travels to Tuscola this afternoon and will host Central A&M Friday to finish out the week.
