The Illinois State Redbirds defeated the Sacramento State Hornets by a final score of 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon at Duffy Bass Field.
John Rave blasted a two-run home run to left field to put the Redbirds in the lead, 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning, as Illinois State improves to 22-15 on the season and 9-2 at Duffy Bass Field.
Derek Parola hit two doubles and Jack Butler scored a run.
Colton Johns and Mitch Vogrin each went three innings on the mound. It was Vogrin who was the winning pitcher. Jacob Gilmore pitched an inning and a third for his seventh save.
Illinois State returns to action this weekend when the team travels to Carbondale to take on the Southern Illinois Salukis for a three-game conference series.
