Illinois State Sweeps SIU

The Illinois State baseball team defeated Southern Illinois, 8-4 on Sunday afternoon in Carbondale. 

 

John Rave hit a two-run home run in the top of the third inning to give ISU a 2-1 lead. Derek Parola would later score in the inning on a wild pitch to make it 3-1. Rave led the way for the Redbirds finishing 5-for-6 with a home run, double and three runs batted in. Parola was 3-for-5 with a run and RBI.

 

Matt Walker finished six innings for ISU, allowing two unearned runs on six hits with nine strikeouts to zero walks. Colton Johnson got the final two outs for his first save. 

 

The Redbirds swept the Salukis on the weekend for their second conference sweep in as many weeks. The 'Birds are 25-15, 8-1 MVC which puts them in first place in the conference.
