The Monticello Sages used a nine-run third inning to blow by the Unity Rockets 13-0 in Illini Prairie Conference boys baseball action Monday afternoon at Monticello High School.

It took three Rockets pitchers to get through the inning as they issued seven walks on the inning and the Sages sent 14 batters to the plate. 

Brett Macak led the way for Monticello, firing four shutout innings, allowing a walk, two hits and struck out four and doubled twice at the plate and drove in a run. Cooper Mitz struck out the side in a scoreless inning of relief.

Alek Bundy scored twice and drove in two runs in a 2-for-3 afternoon. Asher Bradd and Jared Lockmiller scored two runs, Andrew Ellison drove in two runs on a double in the third and Brody Macak drove in a run and scored.

The Sages improve to 9-5 overall and 4-1 in Illini Prairie action. The Rockets drop to 7-9 overall.
