12 Run Second Inning Propels Maroons Past St. T

The Clinton Maroons used a 12-run second inning to propel them past Decatur St. Teresa 16-4 Monday afternoon in Central Illinois Conference boys baseball action from Decatur.

 

Braden Cross led the Maroons offense with three RBIs, a double and finished 2-for-4. Logan Peterson and Tyler West finished 2-for-3, Drew Stacey was 1-for-2 with a double and Garret Wayne finished 2-for-4.

 

Wayne pitched 3 2/3 innings for the win allowing four uneanred runs, a hit, issued four walks and struck out nine. Stacey finished the final 1 1/3 allowing a hit, two walks and struck out one.

 

Kolby Osborne walked three times to lead the Bulldogs offense.

 

The Maroons improve to 6-5 overall and 4-3 in the CIC. The Bulldogs drop to 5-4 in CIC play and 7-10 overall. 

 

The Maroons play host to Sullivan tomorrow afternoon.
