Monticello Downs Tri-Valley

Andrew Ellison threw six shutout innings to lead Monticello past Tri-Valley 4-1 in non-conference boys baseball action Wednesday afternoon at Monticello High School.

 

Ellison struck out eight, walked two and scattered five hits working around base runners all afternoon, as the Vikings stranded eight runners on base and four in scoring position.

 

The Sages jumped on the board in the third inning when Asher Bradd one-hopped the left field fence for a leadoff double and scored on a wild pitch. 

 

They added three runs in the fourth capped off by a Bradd RBI single. 

 

Bradd finished 3-for-3 for the Sages with a double, run, stolen base and a walk. Jared Lockmiller went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Ellison, Colin Jones and Hunter Williams each scored for the Sages.

 

 Tri-Valley was led by Braden Zenor who finished 2-for-4 and scored the only run in the Vikings only run in the seventh after he reached on an error, stole his second base and came home on a Drew Kitterman single to centerfield. 

 

Andrew Rudolph got the final three outs for the Sages with two strikeouts and surrendered an unearned run.

 

The Vikings drop to 10-8 overall and the Sages improve to 10-5.
