A rally in the ninth inning fell short for Clinton as they could not overcome Sullivan and dropped a 3-2 Central Illinois Conference decision Wednesday afternoon at Clinton High School.
The Maroons committed five errors on the day as Michael Oswald pitched a complete game, six-hitter allowing three runs but only one was earned, issuing a walk and striking out four.
He also finished 2-for-2 at the plate.
Dalton Rogers went 5 2/3 innings of one-run ball for the Redskins and struck out nine to one walk and five hits. Tim Lawyer finished the final 1 1/3 for the save.
The Maroons are 6-6 overall and 4-4 in the CIC.
Sullivan is 3-7 in conference play and improves to 4-15 overall.
