HS Girls Softball: Prairie Central Downs Monticello 11-1

In a game heard on 95.9 FM WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com, the Prairie Central Lady Hawks downed Monticello 11-1 in Illini Prairie Conference girls softball action Monday afternoon from Monticello.

 

The Lady Hawks scored a run in the first and four runs in the second and third innings to open up a 9-0 lead. 

 

After going up 11-0 in the top of the sixth inning, Avery Oberheim brought home Skyler Frye on a sac-fly to center field for the Lady Sages only run. Monticello mustered just five hits and six base runners as Heidi Meister allowed an unearned run across six innings for the win.

 

Amber Gaf hit a home run for the Lady Hawks and Kate Winterland finished 3-for-5 with a pair of runs batted in and a pair of runs scored.

 

With the win, the Lady Hawks pick up their first conference win of the season to move to 1-4 in the Illini Prairie and improve to 14-10 overall.

 

The Lady Sages drop to 8-10 overall and are 2-4 in conference action.
