Monticello Drops Two Spots in First Regular Season State Football Rankings

After starting the season ranked second overall in Class 3A and starting the defense of their 3A state title with a 42-32 win over Olympia, Monticello has dropped in the latest 3A state rankings.

 

The rankings released later Wednesday has the Sages No.4 in 3A. Eureka jumped to second and Williamsville comes in third, they jumped two spots. Wilmington came in at five while Carlinville, Princeton, Lisle, Beardstown, and Fairfield round out the top 10 in 3A.

 

In 2A the top five remains unchanged. GCMS keeps their hold on No. 1 and Maroa-Forsyth remains firmly at no. 2, followed by Clifton Central at three and Decatur St. Teresa fourth. Newman Central Catholic comes in fifth while Bismarck-Henning jumps a spot to six, Orion jumps to seven, Fieldcrest improved from 10 to 8, Eastland-Pearl City falls from six to nine and Rockridge joins the top 10 at ten.

 

In Class 1A, Forreston and Lena-Winslow come in one and two respectively, while a pair of Central Illinois Conference teams check-in at third and fourth. Tuscola checks in at third, they were tied for second in the preseason poll. Meanwhile, Central A&M comes in at four. 

 

Camp Point Central, Aurora Christian, Annawan-Weathersfield, Arcola, Ottawa Marquette, and Carrollton round out the top 10 in 1A. 

 

In Class 4A, Taylorville out of the Apollo conference checks in at seventh. IC Catholic is No. 1 while Rochester out of the Central State Eight comes in at three.
